Welcome to Student Today
I'm sure you've realised by now but you're living in a city which boasts more pubs per square mile in the city centre than any other of its size. But obviously that wasn't Lancaster's only attraction for you. So we, here at the Lancaster Guardian, have decided to make your first few weeks in a new place a bit easier by summing up all the attractions on offer.
There's loads of good cafes and restaurants, clubs, gigs, comedy venues, sporting clubs and facilities. And of course there's loads of things to see farther afield in Morecambe, the Lakes and North Yorkshire. Just have a glance through this website we've put together for you which features plenty of ideas about how to get the most out of the city.
You may be spending your first year on campus but the bus service into Lancaster city is frequent - and of course there's the old tradition of hitching. One of the usual spots is about 10 metres away from the bus stop near the Pointer roundabout. You'll soon discover it as you travel to and fro down Scotforth Road. In the Guardian we promote all the local bands and events in the paper every Friday. There's also accommodation, second hand cars and loads of money off discounts (worth remembering when money gets tight). So if you buy a few copies of the Guardian during your time here, well done. And if you don't, well, I guarantee when you return to settle down in Lancaster, you probably will. Because you will return, it's the witch's curse. Not heard of it? Ask any old Lancastrian and they'll tell you the story.
Once you live in Lancaster, it's said that at some point in the future you will return and set up your home here. Sounds nonsense doesn't it... well, all I'll say is it happened to me . You've been warned.
Have a great few years.
